Meripulus giganteus
Commonly known as Giant Polypore, due to the large area of fronds that are produced.
This fungi is an aggressive decayer of buttress roots, often causing windthrow failure.
I have seen Meripulus mostly on beech, but also some oak. It appears to be far more significant on beech though.
The underside bruises black when the fronds are fresh.
