Flyagaric

This fungus is very common near birch trees. This is because it is a mycorrhizal fungi- attaches itself to the roots of plants forming a symbiotic association.
One interesting feature is that it is highly hallucinogenic. Apparently the Vikings would drink reindeer urine- once flyagaric has passed through the deer it is less potent- before going into battle to enter a frenzy.
It is a highly attractive fungi and easy to spot in the woodlands.
